The correctness of the independence decisions adopted has been undisputably confirmed throughout the past ten years. One only needs to look where Slovenia is today in terms of development, political, legal and international aspects, and where the other republics of the former Yugoslavia are.

I am proud of having been given an opportunity to be involved in the determination of the content and the adoption of the most important decisions on Slovenia's independence; from the adoption of amendments to the Slovenian Constitution as early as September 1989, to the direct independence instruments in 1990. Their well-considered contents and legal correctness helped us in achieving international legal recognition of Slovenia's independence
